They might say, "I know my business, but when it comes to getting more customers, more sales, more publicity...I don't know where to begin". Many times, an outside marketing consultant can provide business owners a new perspective, and fresh ideas that can generate results.

I started from no knowledge of the web etc and now I have got page 3 positions on all the major search engines ( FOR FREE as I have no marketing budget ! ). It's amazing how much you can learn just by looking around at what other people are doing and where they are advertised.
I have learned a lot about link strategy and 'back doors' for free listings on MSN etc. It is all there if you look around the web.
