Events: EFA Meeting - Credentials: Are you Using them Well?

Posted on Friday, November 09, 2001 @ 03:35 PM EST

amichalek writes "The November monthly meeting of Editorial Freelance Association (EFA) will be Wednesday, November 28, at the Chestnut Hill Library (that is, the week after Thanksgiving).

Mark your calendar now!

Time: networking from 6:30 to 7:00 pm;
meeting from 7:00 to 8:30 pm

Topic: CREDENTIALS: ARE YOU USING THEM WELL?

Take a look at your resume. Does it list every project you've done over the past 20 years --- even projects that have nothing to do with your career goals? Do you list yourself as "Co-Assistant Subcommittee Vice Chair" of some obscure organization just because it sounds impressive? You may be unwittingly turning off potential clients. We'll discuss what you should (and shouldn't) list among your credentials, as well as how you can present those credentials for maximum impact. We also hope you'll share some of your strategies for putting your best foot forward.

Place: Chestnut Hill Library meeting room,
8711 Germantown Pike/Avenue,
215-248-0977

Directions: best route to Germantown Avenue/Pike. If traveling east on Germantown from 76/476, the library is 5 to 7 miles away on your left: pass Springfield High School on your left; General Lafayette Inn on your right; Chestnut Hill College on your left; Chestnut Hill Hospital on your left. The library is shortly thereafter on your left. If you reach Borders book store on the left, you have gone about half a block too far.

If traveling west on Germantown, drive through Chestnut Hill; Borders book store is at the light at the top of the hill (intersection of Germantown and Bethlehem Pike); veer to your left at this intersection. The library is one half block beyond, on the right; if you get to the hospital, you have overshot slightly.

Parking: on the street or follow the P signs to a lot. Most parking is free at night. "
