Viewing Old Versions of Websites

Posted on Wednesday, May 29, 2002 @ 08:06 AM EDT

amichalek writes "If you want to see an old copy of a website - you have two separate options online.

The first is using the cached page at Google. To do this - run a search where the webpage you're interested in will come back as a result. Then click on the "Cached" link. This will show you the version of the page as it looked the last time Google spidered it.

If this doesn't quench your thirst for what the page looked like long ago - try the Internet Archive Wayback Machine. Using this tool you can see what your website looked like as far back as 1996.

We've teamed up with Alexa to provide a free browser toolbar that gives you one-click access to the history for each page you visit. (It also is a great tool for finding related websites and more information about each page.)
Click here to download the Alexa toolbar.
