Unit of 1 - McDonnell works with Corporate Risk Management Students at Temple University

Philadelphia, February 18, 2002: Mac McDonnell delivered a session on Risk Control to the RMI 359 Corporate Risk Management Students at Temple University. Mac is past president of the Philadelphia Chapter CPCU Society and a member of the Speaker’s Bureau for that organization. Mac was invited to address this group of seniors, who are preparing to enter the workplace in various risk management roles, by Dr. Norm Baglini, President Emeritus, American Institute for CPCU and a professor at Temple. As part of our grassroots efforts, the chapter members and the speakers’ bureau are interested in reaching future insurance customers and business decision makers early in their careers.

RMI 359 Corporate Risk Management is considered a capstone course for seniors. The level of participation and the quality of questions and discussion was very high and the session was well received. McDonnell’s topic, “The Supervisor’s Role in Change Management” explained how accident prevention and control fits into the essential elements of managing a successful business, detailed the critical role and intervention opportunities of supervisors and presented a process that can be used to walk others through behavior change. The students had recently completed a tour of a manufacturing plant and these experiences were incorporated into the discussion.
